If you mention Costa Rica people immediately think paradise…it's a laid back country, with friendly citizens, and plenty of attractions to see & activities to do.  You must visit CR to experience its true beauty.

Costa Rica is part of the Pacific "Rim of Fire" and has seven of the isthmus's 42 active volcanoes plus dozens of dormant or extinct cones. Small quakes and earth tremors shake Costa Rica on occasion.  This is a tropical country which contains several distinct climatic zones. There is no winter or summer as such, and most regions have a rainy season from May to November and a dry season from December to April.

The Arenal Area

Lake Arenal has been rated as one of the five best places in the world for windsurfing. The amenities of the area give even non-windsurfers diversions that range from shopping and sunbathing to eco tours through the surrounding rain forest and visits to nearby Volcano's. Mt. Arenal Volcano rises 1,633 meters (5,356 feet) above sea level and casts an almost flawless silhouette on the land below it. Mt. Arenal´s last eruption was in 1969 but it is far from dormant. It often spews ash and smoke, and provides a compelling backdrop for photographs and video.

At night, when Mt. Arenal´s bright red lava courses down the cone, it is a once in a lifetime sight to see. Locals and visitors alike often enjoy the show from the luxurious surroundings of a local hot springs resort. There are a variety of resorts and spas that have developed in the area.

There are small villages and large towns that are all around the Buena Vista Projects and ready for you to explore. In the small villages of Tronadora and Sabilito you can find most everyday items, yet for more options in shopping and eating you can visit Tilaran.

Tilaran has banks, medical facilities, shopping, a post office and restaurants with a variety of food choices. Canas is the nearby city which has a hospital for medical emergencies.

From this area it is about a 3 ½ hour drive to San Jose and 1 ½ hour drive to Liberia – Both cities contain International Airports.
